Myofunctional therapy is an exercise-based therapy. Think of it like physical therapy, only for the muscles of the mouth, tongue and face. The exercises are designed specifically to train proper breathing, speaking, chewing and swallowing.
Eliminate oral habits such as thumb or finger sucking and pacifier use. We can help your child stop their habits with positive reinforcement.
Are you a mouth breather? Does your mouth hang open at rest? Lips are meant to be closed and your tongue should be resting at the roof of your mouth. Mouth breathing can lead to gum inflammation, bad breath, cavities along with many other things. We can evaluate and address mouth breathing and we can help you with nasal breathing.
Myofunctional therapy is an investment in your overall health. Every session is individualized for you and your specific needs. Costs depend on your specific goals and the length of treatment time. We offer pay-in-full discounts, as well as flexible payment plans.
Therapy sessions are conducted 100% online through our secure telehealth connection in your patient portal. We provide a basic kit of supplies for your therapy sessions. You will need to supply simple household items such as a glass of water or specific food items for some of your therapy sessions. Prior to each session, you will be given a list of necessary items to prepare. It is important that you have access to an excellent Internet connection and webcam. A newer cell phone, tablet or computer will work just fine.
This 30 minute consultation will be done over the phone. This will allow you to ask questions to see if myofunctional therapy is right for you. This consultation is not required prior to the Comprehensive Evaluation.
This session will last 60-90 minutes. This is an depth review of health history, orofacial dysfunctions, function of the muscles of the mouth and face, and a customized plan of therapy.
